Announcements:

• Titan Rd/Rampart Range Rd construction next ~4 months; detour in place
• Financial Update of BDC: Income ‘06=$322.00; Expense ‘06=$782.91 ($400 Thunderhead workshop, $263 Web hosting, $91.92 brochures).  Balance at end of ’06 $658.54.  Current balance 2/12 $878.54.
• Membership dues for ’07 due now $20/year (14 members paid so far)

Bike Jeffco Update-Dave Evans

• Deer Creek Canyon shoulders added to Philipsburg
• Clear Creek Trail met with county to discuss needed improvements
• C-470 trail in bad condition want CDOT to fix and want BDC to join efforts.  Last year several members of BDC volunteered to help and they will work with Bike Jeffco.

BDC Presentation

Janet Slate & Judy Siel showed 15 minutes power point presentation that was given to Douglas County Planning Commission in January:   History of BDC, Complete Streets Campaign, DRCOG Bike Plan and BDC goals for Douglas County to make it more bike friendly.

Bike Map Update-Janet Slate

We have requested Douglas County GIS data from county free of charge (vs. $250.00 charge).  Need traffic volume and shoulder inventory from Public Works.  Estimate $5,000.00 needed to publish and looking for grants.

Titan Rd. Shoulder Update-Judy Siel

Titan & Rampart Range Rd. have ~10,000 vehicles/day.  Ed Susman completed an inventory of the existing road signs.  BDC has requested that “Share the Road” signs be added to these roads.  Public Hearing late February about construction on Rampart Range Rd south of Waterton Rd.  BDC will email group to get attendance at this public hearing. 

Comprehensive Master Plan for Douglas County mini-session

Round table discussion for 30” of our ideas for

 1) What is your greatest concern regarding the future of Douglas Count as a place to live, work, shop, and/or recreate?

“Deteriorating quality of like due to poor managed development”

“Water quantity/availability”

“Lack of planning of rural areas”

“Focus on motorized transportation; no preparations for alternative transportation”

2) What aspect of Douglas Count is most appealing to you?  Why do you choose to live here? 

“Views”; “Open Space”, Bike trail & opportunity to recreate”, “South of the Metro area”. 

Everyone was given the individual response form and requested to fill out at home and then return to Bicycle Pedal’r by 2/24. 

Taste of Highlands Ranch- opportunity to apply for non-profit fund raiser silent auction on 5/11/07.  Need to have 20 volunteers to work 3 hours and solicit items for silent auction if selected.  Discussion about feasibility for BDC and decided to wait till ’08 and have more time to raise items for silent auction.
