8/8/05 Meeting Minutes
7/4/05 Bike Parking at HRCA Event: Bike parking organized by Janet Slate. BDC received ~$30 in donations from parking and selling water. BDC also signed up 17 new email friends and one new member. Event was very successful. Thank you to our volunteers: Janet, Sam, Judy and Barry for their time and effort.
Membership Update for ’05: #25 paid members and #174 on email list. We are looking for more ways to reach out and get more concerned cyclists on our list. Send ideas to BDC.
Meeting Schedule: Group discussion about how often do we need to meet to accomplish BDC goals? Group voted to go to quarterly meetings in Feb. May, August & Nov on the second Monday of each month. BDC can always call a special meeting when issues arise. BDC will continue to share bicycle advocacy news via emails. We want to do a trail repair community service project in spring ’06 as this usually gets a good response from cyclists wanting to give back to the community. Group rides will continue during the warm months. The BDC brochure needs immediate update and reprinting; there is sufficient $ in our account to pay for new brochures.
Bike Issues:
· Where do we want/need additional “Share the Road” signs in our county? Judy will send out an email survey for feedback. Can we do a website survey? (Will check out with Gary our web guy)
· Difficultly accessing the Roxborough/Indian Peaks Trailhead from the north end. (Douglas County Open Space Toby Sprunk will be contacted)
· Wood bridge in Chatfield that goes north over S. Platte River is in bad shape and splintering. Judy will contact Chatfield State Park to see when this will be repaired.
September Group Ride: discussion on route and date. BDC will host a road ride on Sat. Sept. 10th at 8:00 am from Highlands Ranch to Castle Pines North and Surrey Ridge. Watch for details coming soon via email. BDC will supply bars and pop again!!
No meeting in Sept or Oct. We will go to the quarterly schedule this fall.
