Paul Marks, Financial Secretary
Summary
of ’04 (Details given in handouts at the meeting)
- Income $1,551
- Expenses $ 942
- Balance at the end of ’04
$1,079
Business:
- Ideas for BDC Community
Service projects in ’05: education at the health fairs, and trail repair
or building. If you know any trails in Douglas County that would benefit
from our group of volunteers, get in touch with Judy Siel at judy@bicycledouglascounty.org
.
- Favorite routes: our BDC
website would love to have any new routes (road, trail or mountain) in Douglas County that you like to bike and would share. Please include mileage, terrain and
your difficulty rating! Send to gary@bicycledouglascounty.org
- Review of our listed goals and
current biking issues in Douglas County. Chambers Rd. in Arapahoe County has great shoulders marked with bike lane but disappears at the Douglas County line south of E-470. Two bike trails don’t connect by 200 feet near E-470
and Chambers. BDC will contact various local agencies to see who built and
if they can add a short trail between these. BDC continues to work on road
cleaning, shoulder width, & getting shoulders on rural roads. Long
term needs: North-South route from Castle Rock to northern suburbs and
making sure “Bikes Belong” in all Open Space areas. Douglas County Public
Works Dept has hired a Boulder road/bike designer. BDC will revisit
getting a “Bike Friendly” designation in our cities as a way to improve
visibility, safety and access for bicycles.
- ’05 BDC Events:
- Elephant Rock June
5th would love to have BDC provide 20-25 road marshals again
this year! Block out this date on your calendar, volunteer and receive free
BDC ’06 membership by helping raise money for BDC. Also needed 2 members
to run the BDC booth at the fairground from 10am-4 pm. This is our only
fundraiser event for the year and your help is needed on this one day and
will greatly improve safety for the masses that ride this event. Let
Judy Siel know ASAP if you will help on this date. Elephant Rock will be
sending us locations on the route and the time needed at each site (most
are ~3-5 hour locations).
- July 4th
Bike Parking at the HRCA Party
coordinated by Janet Slate.
- Group ride!! Date not set yet, watch for details this
spring.
