Mountain Bike Issues:  report by Irina Donaldson

BDC sent out mountain bike surveys last month, received 10 responses:

Membership Drive:  report by Judy Siel

Every bicycle shop in Douglas County received a visit, brochures, and position statement from Judy.  Bicycle Pedal’r was the only bike shop to sign up as a sponsoring business and member.  A big thank you to Ed Susman the owner of Bicycle Pedal’r for his support.  It was decided another email to members to solicit membership dues to help pay for our ongoing expenses and keep our mission ongoing.  Research cost and shops for printing T-Shirts for public exposure at our upcoming projects (trail cleaning, and Elephant Rock volunteers).

Public Service Announcement:  Viewed 2 videos “Share the Road” produced by CDOT and “Ride Smart” by NHTSA.  These 2 videos will be given to DC8 (Douglas County Public Service station) Jess Steinbrook to see if they can be aired by DC8 as public service announcements or if he would like to help us produce our own video that is specific to Douglas County and feature our advocacy group and local sheriff dept.  We would like to have Bicycle Douglas County plug added at the end of these videos if they are used by DC8.

Trail Cleaning Projects for 2004:  May 8th is the first of 2 schedule community service projects we will be doing this year.  Need to get location for next month and a volunteer to coordinate this project.  Call Judy Siel at 303-470-8431or email if you can take lead on this project or if you have an area that you think needs cleaning/repair.  Also need to get information from E-470 on the trail detour east of I-25.
