  4. Non-profit Status from the Colorado Secretary of State filing, (costs $75, donated by Judy & Barry) has been sent into the SOS and free filing of IRS “SS4” forms will allow our group to have a simple non profit status (without the long legal government 501©3 hassle).  This status does not provide tax-free donations to our group, but will allow us to have our own checking account.  It will also allow us to get involved in elections.
  5. Bicycle Douglas Logo Banner (3x4 white with two color logo with URL) cost $75.  Larry & Shirley have generously donated this to our group.
  6. 2020 Transportation Plan for Douglas County Open House on 5/14/03 was a wonderful opportunity to meet our county planners, and state and county engineers to discuss their plans for future road development and intersection changes.  They were very receptive to suggestions about a 4-foot minimum shoulder width, “Share the Road” signs, and the safety of creating shoulders on rural roads (when funding and expansion available) for both the motorist and bicyclists.  There are changes proposed for the C-470 trail at Yosemite and Colorado intersections to eliminate at grade crossings for cyclists, creating a much safer crossing for trail users. They had Comment Sheets available and the 2 bicyclists that attended gave them lots of suggestions for the future improvements.
  7. Dad Clark (east of Broadway) will be repainted with 4-foot shoulders in early June
  8. $20 membership dues already received will allow us to make 1000 B&W fliers for the Elephant Rock and Parker Expos, and bike shops.  We hope to pay for color printing with the next round, so send in your check to:  Bicycle Douglas County, c/o Bicycle Pedal’r, 2229W. Wildcat Reserve Pkwy #A-7, Highlands Ranch, 80129. Thanks to all the members who have paid already!!
